Long gone are the days when all brides have to walk down the aisle with a long wedding trains behind their backs. Today, women can have short skirts as their wedding dress. This type of dress is called a tea-length wedding dress.
As mentioned earlier, tea-length wedding dresses usually just have a short skirt in place of the wedding trains of old. Without the train, it means that brides become free from the unnecessary discomfort that older styles of wedding dresses bring.
Tea-length dresses aren’t as popular yet as traditional dresses, though. They are usually used in just informal wedding settings like those in the backyard, garden or the beach. However, more and more women who want to have a relaxed setting for their wedding choose to wear this type of dress.
But if you’re a bride-to-be who wants to wear a tea-length dress, you can do so without worrying about what other people would say. The skirt, to start with, doesn’t have to be extra short. A few inches below the knees will do and would give enough space to flaunt your lovely legs. With the right kind of design, you will look as beautiful as any bride should be without raising the eyebrows of your guests.
Aside from flaunting your legs, tea-length dresses can also emphasize your feet and your pair of shoes or sandals. That’s one thing you cannot do if your feet are covered by extra-long skirts.
Another reason why some brides choose to wear tea-length dresses is that they look cute in it. Indeed they do, and if you want to veer away from the typical serious-looking bride of old, then wearing a tea-length is the thing for you.
Finally, wearing a tea-length dress can also have a practical purpose. It was mentioned above that this type of dress is usually used in outdoor settings and it’s for a good reason. Wearing a dress with a train just isn’t practical when you’re walking on a grassy or sandy ground, for example. You’ll just end up messing the train so badly, you’ll ask yourself why you had one fitted in the first place.
All in all, wearing a tea-length wedding dress depends on the taste of the bride. It doesn’t matter what your mother or other people think because it is your wedding after all. So have a great wedding and look fantastic with that tea-length dress of yours!
