While there are brides who prefer to have tailor-made or designer wedding dresses, you might want to consider getting yours from a clearance sale instead. Why should you do this? Here are a few reasons why.
- It saves you time – getting your dress from a clearance sale is practical especially if you have little time to prepare for your wedding. You no longer have to wait for several weeks just to get the dress that you want. All you have to do is choose and pay for it. Be prepared for some stiff competition though, because other women will be fighting to get the best-looking dress at the store
- It saves you money – clearance sales are known for dropping prices way below the 50 percent mark. So if you go to one, you are sure to get the dress that you like for a fraction of the cost. You can then allot the extra money you could have spent on the dress for other wedding expenses. It doesn’t matter too if you don’t get exactly the dress that you want. You will still have extra money for alterations and modifications so you can have a truly unique dress
But of course, there are a few caveats you have to look out for.
- Be prepared to compete – women literally fighting over clearance wedding dresses has happened before. And while it may not happen in your case, you have to prepare yourself for a lot of pushing and shoving especially in big sales in big stores. Otherwise, you might be better off buying items at a regular price
- Check out for flaws – stores put up clearance sales so that they can let go of their old stocks to make way for new ones. Most of these clothes have spent a lot of time in the shelves probably for a good reason. Whatever that reason is, you have to find out for yourself. Look out for flaws on the dress. And if you see one, decide for yourself if it’s worth the money you have to spend on repairing it, or if you should buy a newer dress instead
